"[duchamp-user]" [Duchamp] New version of the Duchamp source-finder

Dear Colleagues,

This email announces the latest update to the Duchamp source-finding
software package. The new version, v1.1 has a much more robust and
less memory-intensive structure, and contains an additional smoothing
option.

A lot of work has been done on the usage of memory by Duchamp. The way
detections are stored in memory has been markedly improved, so the
memory usage and execution times are much better.

The cube is also now able to be smoothed spatially with a Gaussian
kernel prior to searching. This is implemented in a similar way to the
wavelet reconstruction and the spectral smoothing, with user
parameters defining the smoothing kernel.

There have also been some minor changes made to the input
parameters. All changes are documented in the CHANGES file contained
in the distribution (and available on the website), and the user's
guide has been updated accordingly.

I recommend upgrading your Duchamp installation to the new
version. The code can be downloaded from the usual place:

Happy finding!

Matthew Whiting.
