VT001h - disk-based VLBI test: DOY 321 (16 Nov 2004)

From: <stingay_at_email.protected>
Date: Mon, 8 Nov 2004 10:06:52 +1100 (EST)

Hi Everyone,

Here is a summary of the plans for VLBI experiment VT001h on DOY 321: 0930
- 1500 UT. This experiment is similar to vt001e from last April but with
different frequencies and DAS setup. Can all please read and comment if
necessary.

vt001h is the first true imaging test for the PCEVN-style disk-based
recorders, 5.5 hr on (up to) 6 antennas at (up to) 256 Mbps. The source
is an old favourite, PKS 0438-436:

There may actually be some science come out of this test!!

Issues/questions
----------------

* Can Brett confirm that only RCP is available at 13 cm for Hobart,
please? Is this still the case?

* Tidbinbilla will only observe RCP with the 13 cm hempt receiver. Can
you confirm that this is ok, Jim?

* Everywhere else will observe dual polarisation with the vsop.pro DAS
profile. Can all confirm that this is ok, please?

* Chris, has swarm been sent to Hobart yet?

* Craig will want to use the dstart software to ensure that all recording
starts on the same 10 second boundary. Can each observatory confirm
that dstart is available on your systems, please? Subject to tests
during vt002a we will use the "standard" version of wr for vt001h.
Chris, can you make sure that this is available on all machines, please?
As a backup, we will need Craig's version of wr on all machines as well.
Craig, can you make sure that your version is available everywhere,
  please?

* If I've left anything out below or if anything is unclear, please let me
  know.

Cheers, Steven
