dstart and vsib_record for vt001h

Hi All,

Please remember that the VSIC is to be plugged directly into the back of
the DAS. This test is being performed at 256 Mbps, as opposed to the 128
Mbps for the normal S2 recorders. This is only possible if you unplug the
S2 and plug the VSIC directly into the DAS. Also ensure that your recorder
is set to the correct mode (1110). Every telescope got fringes to Parkes
last night so things seem to have been set correctly.

The DAS mode should be a VSOP mode, with the correct flipping taken care
of, and the center frequency is 2285 MHz.

When running the dstart for vt001h I'd like people to set the recorders to
start for 2004-11-16T09:29:59 That is 1 second before the nomial start
time of 09:30:00 UTC. This is UTC so ensure that you set you TZ
environment variable to UTC.

The options to vsib_record should be "-t 20000s" (just over 5.5 hrs).

(TID can use a start time a little later if they like, adjusted locally)

So the full command line should read something like this. Please adapt for
your location if you don't have the dstart and vsib_record commands in
your path.

 dstart 2004-11-16T09:29:59 ; vsib_record -m 3 -t 20000s -o vt001h-%04d <
/dev/vsib

Or if you are using a directory called "vsib" in the users home area you
could use something like this:

 ~/vsib/dstart 2004-11-16T09:29:59 ; ~/vsib/vsib_record -m 3 -t 20000s -o
vt001h-%04d < /dev/vsib

You should also ensure that you are in the directory that has the drives
that have been allocated for this experiemnt.

If anyone has any problems, or doesn't understand this email, please
contact me either via email, or phone (02) 6861 1751.

Cheers
Craig...
