Hi all,
Power is out at Physics in Hobart. All sorts of IT things are not working.
This may affect computer access to Hobart and Ceduna observatories.

I am getting schedules and email using dialup.

Regards,
Brett.

Subject: [utasbulk] Major Disruption to Sandy Bay Campus Services

An electrical fire in the Engineering Building of the Sandy Bay Campus has
caused major disruption to services.

The fire was quickly extinguished and power restored to three quarters of
the campus during night.

Some areas of campus are not yet operational and will be closed until
further notice.

They are;
Engineering and the Workshops
Geomatics
Law
Information Systems
Physics and Maths
Geology Building including Geography & Environmental Studies and CODES
the Psychology Annex
University Gym
University Staff Club
Portions of the Arts Building including
Sociology,
Psychology,
Languages, and
Edge Radio

Staff and student who would normally be operating in those buildings
should not attend Thursday. All other areas of campus are operational
including Childcare.

We are working to restore power as quickly as possible and have set up
emergency power supply systems.

Some of the communication systems may suffer problems - if people can be
patient we will use public radio sources and email to keep you all
informed.

Thanks to all the staff who worked through the night to get things
running, and to our colleagues from other organisations who got us up and
going again.

Amanda Wojtowicz
Director, Public Relations.
