RE: Telecon agenda

Dear Chris and JERn,

Re the proposed X-Band "geodesy" experiment for the coming run, do you think it valuable to contact Oleg and arrange for him to make up the schedule and also to undertake the analysis? He's been pushing for improved telescope positions for some time.

With only two 32 MHz bands, a spanned bandwidth of ~ 100 MHz seems feasible. Without the S-Band ionospheric corrections this would probably give as good a telescope position as can be achieved without the ionospheric correction. But for Ceduna, without any S/X capability, it could lead to a new position at the few tens of cm or possibly even better. Comparing an 8 GHz experiment with a 20 GHz experiment both with the same spanned bandwidth, the 8 GHz experiment would have considerably greater SNR, and hence would allow a better sky coverage with many more sources to choose from.

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Guys,

Here is a basic agenda for todays telecon.

        10:30am

This is an external number for CSIRO callers (and non-CSIRO callers for
that matter...)

Cheers
Chris
