Hi All,
There are some unsorted photos at:
http://www-ra.phys.utas.edu.au/~breid/ceduna/Lband/?C=M;O=D
Aidan calculated a systemp of 1200 Jy during a scan after we finished
setting up. We are probably taking a hit in Tsys due to our 12 meters of
RF cable between the LNA and the mix down package.
Here is a message from Cliff Senkbeil regarding the Ceduna L-band
mapping experiment he performed during the time before the current
experiment, while Aidan and I had dinner.
Cliff obtained 1400 Jy Tsys and the source being mapped is 200 Jy
---------
The beam of the experimental L-Band Receiver system at Ceduna has been
mapped using
Virgo A (or M087)
(RA, Dec) [J2000] = (12h30m49.4s, +12d23m28s)
Centre frequency = 1400 MHz
bandwidth = 64 MHz
IF1 = Left Circular Polarization
IF2 = Right Circular Polarization
Images of the beam can be found at:
IF1 (LCP) 4x4 degrees
http://www-ra.phys.utas.edu.au/~csenkbei/CedunaLBand/Beamif1_07172_1.jpg
IF2 (RCP) 4x4 degrees
http://www-ra.phys.utas.edu.au/~csenkbei/CedunaLBand/Beamif2_07172_1.jpg
IF1 (LCP) 2x2 degrees
http://www-ra.phys.utas.edu.au/~csenkbei/CedunaLBand/Beamif1_07172_2.jpg
IF 2 (RCP) 2x2 degrees
http://www-ra.phys.utas.edu.au/~csenkbei/CedunaLBand/Beamif2_07172_2.jpg
The elevation of the scans was ~25 degrees, Azimuth ~ 300 degrees. The
units of the color bar are cal height units.
Cliff.
-------
Thanks Cliff for doing this on the couple of nights that you put in.
Also thanks to Bev and Mark for getting all the stuff here we needed and
everything else including lunch, when we needed it.
Thanks to all others in Hobart for guidance in this test.
Regards,
Brett and Aidan.
