VLBI run reminders

Hi All,

Here's my usual email :)

1. Please plan your disk usage. The last few experiments need integer numbers of disk packs. I recommend disk changes after v310a, v255h, v277c and v190m, although if you can manage less changes than that due to late starts, changed data rates or anything, please do! See my previous email for predicted disk usages (depends on v310a's data rate and recording destination though).
1a. You should definitely START v271d (apart from Ho) and v252o on FRESH DISK PACKS to minimise interruptions to recording for disk changes.

2. PLEASE record which disk pack each experiment is being observed to. It's important anyway, but as there's a good chance a lot of the data transfers won't happen till after Christmas, it needs to be written down somewhere. Please update this page:
http://www.atnf.csiro.au/vlbi/wiki/index.php?n=DataManagement.DisksByAntenna

3. If you don't have an account to edit the wiki, get one here: (unless you're observing at Hobart, then use Brett's)
http://www.atnf.csiro.au/vlbi/wiki/index.php?n=Main.WikiPassword
and email Chris.Phillips_at_csiro.<!--nospam-->au

4. During each experiment PLEASE make notes of any issues such as downtimes (give reason if possible), source below horizon, windstows, unusual configurations etc.
Also RECORD WHICH DISK PACK YOU'RE USING on this page.
There is a page for each observatory to hold these comments for each experiment.

5. Should you feel like being a diligent observer and doing regular checks to make sure the system is behaving, there's a guideline here:
http://www.atnf.csiro.au/vlbi/wiki/uploads/Main/VLBI%20Checklist.pdf

6. Finally, the Skype conversation will undoubtedly be happening, keep an eye on that for instructions during the observations.

Happy observing!

Claire
