The 1000 Brightest HIPASS Galaxies

The 1000 Brightest HIPASS Galaxies (displayed in a stereographic projection on the South Pole). The colors have been chosen to emphasize various velocity ranges; nearby galaxies are bright blue and distant galaxies are dark red. The five colors are cyan, blue, grey, orange, red and correspond to the velocity ranges <1000, 1000-1500, 1500-1900, 1900-2700, >2700 km/s.
