PRE-GRIDDING programs
- The HIPASS cube archive (restricted access) gives
up-to-date information on the available cubes and those
"booked for gridding" by the HIPASS team. It also lists the number
of missing/flagged scans for each cube; cubes which are complete are
clearly marked with "All scans available".
- size_mgr.pl ("Size Manager")
shows the contents of each cdrom in the archive and the flag status
plus comments for each file on that cdrom.
- hipass_status.pl (up-dating every night)
shows how many scans are missing for each HIPASS cube.
- coverage.pl, coverage-zoa.pl
are described in detail in the "Making Cubes" instructions.
Example: coverage.pl -c 342
shows which scans are available for cube H342 and gives the cdrom
numbers on which these scans reside.
Example: coverage.pl -d -18 -s 37 -e 123
shows which scans are available for cubes H240-246 and gives the cdrom
numbers on which these scans reside. The declination and the
start and end numbers are taken from the summary of
HIPASS cube centres.
- hipass_check.pl -x ext -s start_cube -e end_cube -n flag
checks if all scans needed for a certain range of HIPASS cubes have been
(successfully) loaded into the current directory. ext can
either be mscal or sdfits, start_cube and end_cube
are the first and last number, respectively, of the HIPASS cubes
selected. The flag can either be 0 or 1, the latter shows any
files not needed (often flagged) for the range of cubes specified.
Example: hipass_check.pl -x sdfits -s 340 -e 342
checks if all sdfits files needed to make HIPASS cubes H340, H341, and
H342 are loaded.
- zoa_check.pl -x ext -l longitude -m scans -n flag
checks if all scans needed for longitude l have been
(successfully) loaded into the current directory. ext
can either be mscal or sdfits, longitude is the longitude
of the selected ZOA cube, and scans the scan letter (e.g. am).
The flag can either be 0 or 1, the latter shows any files
not needed (often flagged) for the range of cubes specified.
Example: zoa_check.pl -x sdfits -l 320 -m am
checks if all sdfits files needed to make ZOA cube Z320_am are loaded.
- sdfits2ms in out (not needed anymore)
converts individual *.sdfits files to *.mscal files.
Example:
sdfits2ms /cdrom/cdrom0/xxx.sdfits /MYDISK/xxx.mscal
will load the file xxx.sdfits from cdrom0 to MYDISK while converting
it to mscal format.
- switch_sdfits_mscal.pl [-d] [-q] files
allows the conversion of scans from sdfits to mscal format or vice
versa. The option -d means delete files after conversion
and the option -q means suppress messages and errors. The
files can be *, *.mscal, or *.sdfits.
Example: switch_sdfits_mscal.pl -d *.sdfits
converts all *.sdfits files into *.mscal files and deletes
each *.sdfits file after successful conversion.
Example: switch_sdfits_mscal.pl *
converts all *.mscal files into *.sdfits files and all *.sdfits files
into *.mscal files (hmm, not very useful, I suppose) while keeping
all files.
- mscheck [-d]
now finds, and deletes if necessary, all mscal files in the current
directory with any sort of corrupt or non-sensible positional
information as well as those that haven't been closed or have
inconsistencies in the lengths of their tables.
Example:
mscheck will report any corrupt files.
Example:
mscheck -d
will report and DELETE corrupt files.
- msposcheck
will report any mscal file in the current directory for which any
beam position lies greater than 10 degrees from the MEAN of all
beam positions contained in that file. No HIPASS or ZOA mscal files
should contain such extraneous data.
