Job Opportunity - Electrical Technician - Power-Control-HVAC

An outstanding opportunity has arisen within CSIRO Astronomy and Space Science (CASS) for a highly motivated and experienced electrical technician. To be considered, you will have an eye for detail and a proactive approach, along with relevant industrial experience to undertake the installation, maintenance and repair of a range of electrical systems, plant and equipment.

The position will be based at the Murchison Support Facility (MSF) in Geraldton with regular visits to the Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory (MRO), some 350 km northeast of Geraldton. During construction and commissioning of the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) telescope, visits to the MRO will be frequent and may extend to around ten days. During normal observatory operations, visits to the MRO will be scheduled throughout the year and will normally be for 2 to 4 days Monday to Friday. The incumbent will work closely with other engineering staff to ensure a high level of reliability of operational systems at the observatory and the support facility.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the initial establishment of the ASKAP Telescope, the MRO and the MSF along with development of ongoing maintenance schedules, support and monitoring of the MRO and set up of electrical support infrastructure at the MSF.
