AbstractModern programs and projects are increasingly complex. Even simple projects can experience periods of complexity, and failing to recognise and deal with complexity can be costly. Complexity can be introduced by multiple interconnected stakeholders, uncertain technology development, and changing internal and external influences. In a complex environment, traditional project management practices alone are insufficient. To increase project success, professionals need a complimentary skillset to identify complexity early and respond effectively. The International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM) was established in 2007 by the Australian Government to build capability in the management of complex projects and improve project outcomes across all sectors. This presentation will explore complex project management within the context of CSIRO. |
