VACANCY - Electronics Technician - Radio Frequency

The Australia Telescope National Facility, CSIRO is seeking a self motivated electronics technician to join a highly skilled engineering team at Marsfield. The ATNF is AustraliaÂ’s premier radio astronomy research organisation and the largest facility of its kind in the southern hemisphere. This is a rare opportunity to work with cutting edge technological advancements in a stimulating R&D environment as part of a team that has achieved world recognition for developments to date and is embarking on next generation astronomy technologies.

Duties are to assist with the development and maintenance of cryogenically-cooled, low noise radio astronomy receivers together with associated IF and backend systems at the Laboratory and across the ATNF.

To be successful you will hold an Advanced Diploma or equivalent in electronics, with emphasis on both analogue and digital techniques. Sound understanding of analogue and digital electronics and familiarity with small-scale electronic design and assembly techniques are essential together with experience in, or knowledge of, radio-frequency electronics.

The appointment salary will be determined by the level of qualifications and relevant experience. Relocation assistance may be provided within Australia.

Adaptability and strong team skills to work closely with other technical staff are essential. Travel to other sites within Australia for short periods is required.
