Abstract

A small revolution in the intra-day variability (IDV) world has
taken place over the last few years, with the result that Inter-
Stellar Scintillation(ISS) has become established as the principal
mechanism responsible for the rapid IDV seen at cm wavelengths in
many compact, flat-spectrum radio sources. Key to this revolution
has been the discovery of three very rapid IDV sources, PKS 0405-385,
PKS 1257-326 and J1819+3845. Much of this revolution has taken
place here in Australia, and some of the key players
are gathered here to talk about their exciting discoveries.
