Interstellar Masers & Molecular Cores - Dr James (Rick) Forster Colloquium

The Australia Telescope National Facility Colloquium
11:00-12:00 Fri 23 May 2003

ATNF Marsfield Lecture Theatre

Abstract

Interstellar OH/H2O masers have long been know as indicators of massive
star formation in the galaxy. However, their relationship with the
massive stars themselves or their precursors is not well understood. I
will present BIMA interferometer observations at 1cm, 3mm and 1mm aimed
at characterizing the environment of maser sites, and discuss their
implications on the masses, ages and kinematics of the molecular cores
in which they are embedded.
