Multi-wavelength analysis of merging galaxy clusters - Dr Chiara Ferrari Colloquium

The Australia Telescope National Facility Colloquium

Abstract

In the framework of the hierarchical model of structure formation,
galaxy clusters form through the accretion and merging of substructures
of smaller mass.
In order to characterize the physics and dynamics of these processes,
I have begun to work on a project of multi-wavelength (optical, X-ray
and radio)
analysis of galaxy clusters viewed at different stages of the merging
process.
In this talk I will present the results obtained through the optical
analysis on one of the first targets of our sample, i.e. A3921.
