Magnetic energy in the extragalactic universe; its origins and prospects for measuring it - Phil Kronberg Colloquium

The Australia Telescope National Facility Colloquium
15:30-16:30 Wed 07 Nov 2007

ATNF Marsfield Lecture Theatre

Abstract

In this talk I review calculations and estimates of the gobal energy
release from galactic black holes into the IGM. I describe some recent
first attempts at radio observational verification of this energy output.
I also discuss the next question that naturally arises; namely what
specifications of future instruments are needed to extend these probes?
