Employment Opportunity - PostDoctoral Fellowship in Galactic Radio Astronomy

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Radio Astronomy at the Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF), AustraliaÂ’s premier radio astronomical facility.

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher with a background in Galactic radio astronomy or related fields. The Postdoctoral Fellow will carry out research on the interstellar medium of the Milky Way, working with Dr Naomi McClure-Griffiths. The successful applicant will contribute to the ATNF Galactic ISM group through collaborative projects, as well as his/her own program of independent research in relevant areas. The appointee will also have the opportunity to participate in the scientific planning and development of ATNF's new $100 million radio facility, ASKAP.

The position will be for three years starting in July 2008. The exact start date is negotiable. A discretionary research allowance will be available to the successful candidate together with relocation and other benefits. The position will be based at the headquarters of the ATNF in vibrant Sydney, Australia.
