Hipparcos observations

The Hipparcos satellite was launched by the European Space Agency during 1989 August, with scientific observations made between 1989 November and 1993 March. More than 10tex2html_wrap_inline211 objects were observed for the Hipparcos Catalogue (ESA 1997), which has a mean astrometric precision of tex2html_wrap_inline241 1 milli-arcsec (mas). Table 1 lists raw parallaxes and proper motions obtained for hydrogen-deficient carbon stars observed as part of the Hipparcos catalogue (the catalogue reference number for each star is the HIP number in Table 1).
