Adriana Parra, who has joined S&A as a CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Fellow.
Welcome Adriana Parra
Adriana Parra recently joined Space and Astronomy as a CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Fellow. Adirana is from Colombia, where she completed my undergrad studies and a master's degree in Earth Science. She then moved to the USA to pursue a PhD degree in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno. Before joining CSIRO, she had the opportunity to participate in a postdoctoral position at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California (USA). Her main research interest focuses on monitoring Land Cover change using remote sensing information and evaluating the derived effects of these changes on ecosystem services. In her role as a CERC Fellow, she will be working in the Centre for Earth Observation on monitoring ecosystem extent using multisource remote sensing data, particularly SAR (synthetic aperture radar) imagery, and on estimating biophysical parameters and 3D vegetation structure of the Great Western Woodland. Her work at CSIRO will be connected to the international efforts of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites Ecosystem Extent Task Team.
