This ASKAP data release includes a simulated polarisation observation. * The input model used was an updated version of the SKADS S3-SEX catalogue (Wilman et al 2008) provided by Jeroen Stil of the POSSUM team. The additions to the SKADS catalogue are Q & U fluxes for each component plus a rotation measure made up of a random "internal" component and a foreground. * The sky model was used as input for a telescope simulation, which featured: ** The 2km core of the ASKAP configuration (ie. 30 antennas only) ** The effect of the phased-array feed was simulated by using 32 idealised beams, spaced in a rectangular grid 0.5deg apart (the arrangement is a 6×6 square, without the corners). ** The total integration time was 8hr, with 10s integrations ** The spectral setup used 32 channels, each 8MHz in width, ranging from 1420MHz to 1172MHz ** Each channel was simulated and imaged separately, then combined into a cube. ** The preconditioning was Normalised Wiener filtering with robust = +0.25, Gaussian tapering with 27.6 x 27.6 arcsec. We also provide the individual Stokes cubes for the restored image as separate cubes (each 1536x1536 pix x 32 channels). Addition (Aug 2010): We have also provided the input catalogues. These were generated by Jeroen Stil, using the SKADS S3-SEX simulation as a starting point. There is a tarball containing the full set of catalogues, spanning 20x20 degrees (centred at ra,dec=0,0), and a smaller ascii file containing just those sources used to generate the model, with positions matching the images (centred at ra,dec=12:30,-45:00). (The initial version of this file contained just the sources in one portion of the field - this has been rectified.) There is also a README file included detailing the composition of the catalogue. The data are located in the directory giant:/DATA/DELPHINUS_2/whi550/ASKAPsimulations/Polarisation/May2010 which can be accessed from most machines on the ATNF network.
