Welcome

I am Stuart Weston and a PhD candidate in the Institute for Radio Astronomy and Space Research IRASR at the AUT University, Auckland, New Zealand. I am also fortunate to be co-supervised by Nicholas Seymour of ATNF under their Graduate Student Research Scholorship.

Since getting my B.Sc (Honors) in Physics from Manchester

University, UK in 1982. I have been working in the field of IT for many

industrys such as Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Shipping, Engineering and

Software. Also in several countrys such as Holland, Hong Kong, Brunei and now New Zealand where I have finally settled with my wife and son. Having lived in New Zealand for 14 years we now consider ourselves Kiwi's.

In 2008 I completed one module of the Swinburne Astronomy Online MSc. In one of the student communication email news communications I noticed that they where collaborating with AUT University, New Zealand for a VLBI observation. I contacted Prof Sergei Gulyaev at AUT and embarked on a M.Phil part-time.

I completed and graduated with an M.Phil in 2009, then in 2010 I enrolled at AUT University again to do a PhD part-time in the field of Radio Astronomy. Also in the interim I have been employed by the Institute as a Software Engineer.
