Large-scale structure as traced by HIPASS
The distribution of ~5000 galaxies detected in the HI Parkes All-Sky Survey (HIPASS) by Meyer et al. (2004). The whole HIPASS survey area (DEC < 25 degr) is similar to that of WALLABY, the planned ASKAP HI All-Sky Survey (DEC < 30 degr), which will get under way once all ASKAP antennas are equipped with wide-field Phased-Array Feeds (PAFs). The WALLABY volumne is much larger than that of HIPASS, and we expect to detect neutral hydrogen (HI) in more than 500 000 galaxies out to a redshift of z = 0.25.
