Star formation in extreme galactic environments
by Deidre Hunter (Lowell Observatory)
Knots in GALEX FUV images of dwarf galaxies reveal that young star clusters are found out to many disk scale lengths. These are examples of star formation in extremely low gas density, low metallicity environments that are not understood with current models.

Dr. Deidre Hunter is a Distinguished Visitor at CSIRO Astronomy and Space Science.
