Here is a beautiful photo of a single 12-m ASKAP dish. The Australian
Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) consists of 36 x 12-m dishes,
which provide 630 baselines up to a maximum length of six kilometres.
Most of the antennas are located within a circle of 2 kilometre diameter
to provide high sensitivity for 21-cm radio continuum and HI spectral line
observations. Phased Array Feeds (PAFs) capable of providing a field-of-view
of 30 square degrees are currently installed
on six antennas, but will soon be rolled-out to many more antennas. ASKAP
is located on the Murchison Radio Observatory (MRO) near Boolardy Station
in Western Australia.
