Innovative science at its best |
by Jill Rathborne (CASS) |
Attendees at the CASS-AAO Women's Leadership
course admire a Phased-Array Feed (PAFs) receiver being constructed for CSIRO's
ASKAP radio telescope. PAFs deliver an unprecedented field of view (30 square
degrees) and allow large-scale surveys of the sky. The first early science
programs are now under way with ASKAP-12, aiming to study the gas content of
nearby galaxy groups and clusters. Photo credit: Nic Svenson |
