With more than 200 mm of rain over the past
60 days, which is more than double the long-term average for this time of the
year, the Paul Wild Observatory is looking very green! For the scientists who
want to use our high-frequency receivers, the rain clouds are a big problem,
and a lot of time has been recently lost as the light gets absorbed by the
water in the atmosphere. The strong negative Indian Ocean Dipole is thought
to be responsible for the above-average spring rainfall, but this should
weaken over the coming months.
