CSIRO's Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) is located near the town of
Narrabri in NSW; it consists of six 22-m telescopes forming a 6-km diameter
dish. Five antennas are movable along a 3-km heavy duty railway track. ATCA
can observe in a very wide frequency range from about 1 to 105 GHz, providing
a bandwidth of 2 - 4 GHz. ATCA has a strong international user base, our
observers regularly visit to conduct their observations, reduce data,
collaborate with local expert staff and discuss results and new ideas.
Currently, all projects are allocated based on the merit of proposals as
determined by an independent Time Assignment Committee (TAC).
