Low Frequency Radio-astronomy Conference
by Phil Edwards (CASS)
An international conference on The Broad Impact of Low Frequency Observing was held last week in Bologna, Italy. Over 200 participants gathered to discuss results from the European LOFAR, Australian MWA, and Indian GMRT telescopes, among others. The conference "began at the beginning," with the first session being on the Epoch of Reionisation -- the period in the early universe during which the predominantly neutral intergalactic medium was ionized by the first stars and galaxies. The picture above shows Cath Trott (ICRAR/Curtin) describing progress with the MWA in that session. More details about the conference, including copies of the presentations, are available from the conference website
