As was apparent from last Wednesday's ADAP,
Dame Jocelyn Bell-Burnell
is currently visiting Australia.
While the main purpose of her visit was to give the keynote John Bolton Lecture at the Central West
Astronomical Society's annual AstroFest,
her trip included a visit to the Parkes radio telescope
to help officially open the exhibition of the "David Malin Awards" for amateur astrophotographers
in the Observatory’s Visitors Centre.
Aware that Jocelyn was about to celebrate a birthday,
local staff surprised her with a cake.
Jocelyn kindly agreed to blow out the candles, with CWAS President, Christine Speers,
remarking that "the cake was the icing on the whole thing"!
