HIPASS Bright Galaxy Catalog

Bärbel Koribalski (ATNF) + HIPASS and ZOA teams

HIPASS Bright Galaxy Catalog (Koribalski et al. 2000, in prep.)

Presented here are preliminary results from the "HIPASS Bright Galaxy Catalog" which currently includes more than 1000 of the HI brightest galaxies according to their HIPASS peak flux in the global HI spectrum.

  1. Procedure and selection criteria (not up-to-date)
  2. Sky distributions (Aitoff projection, STG projection, Galactic etc.)
  3. Histograms I. Measured HI properties (HI peak flux, total HI flux, systemic vel., widths, etc.)
  4. Histograms II. Derived properties (Local Group velocity, distance, HI mass, etc.)
  5. Comparisons (total HI flux vs w50, w20 vs w50, etc.)
  6. New galaxies (there are about 130 uncatalogued galaxies - marked green -, most of which are at |b| < 10 degr.; the plot was made by Malte in aips++)
  7. The Data (restricted access)
