Abstract. Here we present preliminary results of a study of the neutral hydrogen gas (HI) in the southern galaxy NGC 3256 and its environment with the Australia Telescope Compact Array .
The galaxy NGC~3256 has been studied extensively by Jayanne English in her PhD thesis at Mount Stromlo and Siding Spring Observatory (MSSSO).
