The Galaxy NGC 5643

Bärbel Koribalski (ATNF)

Figures 1 and 2: Neutral hydrogen distribution (top) and mean velocity field (bottom) of the galaxy NGC 5643. The HI velocity field of NGC 5643 looks rather regular. The closest velocity contours indicate a falling rotation curve, which could be a projection effect due to warping of the outer gas layer.
