Getting Correlator Data Back From the Tapes.

Introduction.

Almost all correlator data is reduced on line. However sometimes you might wish to reprocess it, the calibration may not have been possible or wasn't done very well. Or you might want to reprocess the data with more or less sub-bands, longer integrations or whatever. To reprocess the data you need to have successfully identified the tape it is on. Then, you grab the relevant Exabyte. A copy of all of these are kept at Epping.

To successfully reduce a correlator observation of a pulsar you need to establish if the cals need to be reprocessed. If they do locate the nearest Hydracal at the same frequency and bandwidth as your pulsar observation and get it off tape. Once they are off tape unload the pulsar observation and a nearby cal - preferably the one before the observation.
