The Charlene Heisler Prize

The Charlene Heisler Prize commemorates the life of Charlene Heisler, who was a young gifted astronomer who died tragically in 1999. As well as her contributions to science, which won her an international reputation, her greatest gift to astronomy was her ability to inspire and motivate those around her. The aim of the "Charlene Heisler Prize" is to continue her work in encouraging young people to take up a career in science and to have fun while doing so.

The Charlene Heisler Prize offers an opportunity to Australian undergraduates not just to win a prize but also to experience the excitement of joining a team working on a cutting-edge research project.

We are currently revamping the competition and the form of the prize. We will post details here in July 2004.

The prize is entirely funded by donations, which are tax-deductible in Australia, and the financial management is kindly provided by the Astronomical Society of Australia. Payment may be made by either cheque or credit card. Click here for details of how to make your donation.

We are very grateful to those individuals and institutions who have paid tribute to Charlene's achievements by their generous support of this prize. A Roll of Honour of contributors is available here.
