Science Symposium for the Australia Telescope Compact Array's 25th Birthday

We invite you to attend a Science Symposium to mark 25 years since the opening of the Australia Telescope Compact Array on September 2, 1988.

The meeting will take place in Narrabri, NSW from September 3-6, 2013 and will cover a broad range of scientific topics from local planets to the distant Universe in recognition of the engineering and science achievements of the ATCA.

We would also like to take this opportunity to showcase 25 years of the ATNF co-supervised student program with talks from students past and present.

An official celebration to mark the 25th anniversary of the opening of the ATCA will take place on-site on Monday September 2nd. All symposium attendees are invited to the official celebrations. Buses will be arranged to take people to and from the telescope for this event, departing Narrabri at ~1.30pm and retuning at ~8.30pm. The celebration will include antenna and control building tours, afternoon tea, an official ceremony and finger food and drinks in the evening.

The ATCA will also be open to the public on Sunday September 1. This celebration will offer opportunities for antenna tours, talking to astronomers, solar telescope viewing etc. More details about the days events can be found here.
