CASS/ATNF Student Symposium 2013

Friday 30 August, 2013

Download the programme here: Symposium Program

The annual CASS/ATNF co-supervised student symposium will take place on Friday 30 August in the Marsfield lecture theatre from 9am until 5pm. The symposium will be followed by a dinner for students.

Depending on the number of talk submissions each talk will be approximately 15-20 minutes long. It is highly recommended each student in attendance gives a talk about their work. We encourage you to talk about your recent work or an interesting result you've obtained in the past year.

This year we are encouraging supervisors to give a talk as well. Ideally, a student's supervisor will present the broad picture of the research being done by their group with specific attention paid to where their student (or students) fit into the research picture. If your supervisor is willing to give a presentation at the symposium they should register via the supervisor form listed under Registration. Each supervisor will be asked to give only one talk, even if they have more than one student participating in the symposium. Before registering for the symposium please consult with your supervisor about their availability. This will also give you a good chance to prepare and coordinate together.

Accommodation is available on-site for CASS students (see below) and should be booked as soon as possible.

Accommodation

Accommodation can be booked via the ATNF online reservation form found here: http://www.atnf.csiro.au/observers/accomm/.

Please note: Accommodation at the lodge is nearly fully booked for the 29th and 30th of August. CASS can pay for accommodation for non-Sydney students at nearby Robert Menzies College, a residential college of Maquarie University. Please book your accommodation as you normally would through the link above but be advised you may be booked to stay at the college rather than the lodge.

Registration

To register for the symposium please fill out the student registration form.

If your supervisor also wishes to participate in the symposium please ask them to fill out the supervisor registration form.

25th anniversary of ATCA following the ATNF student symposium

In the week following the ATNF student symposium we will be holding a Scientific Symposium to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the ATCA. The meeting will cover a broad range of scientific topics in recognition of the engineering and scientific achievements of the ATCA and will showcase the 25 years of the ATNF co-supervised student program with talks from past and present students. You are all encouraged to attend and show off all your excellent ATCA results, or hear about some if you don't have any yet.

The meeting will be held in Narrabri from the 3rd - 6th of September and will follow the ATCA open day on Sunday the 1st and official 25th Anniversary celebrations on Monday the 2nd. We are still looking for volunteers to help with the open day and you should email Liza-Jane McPherson (Liza-Jane.Mcpherson@csiro.au) if you are interested in helping out. Registration for the Scientific Symposium is now open and can be found on the meeting webpage: http://www.atnf.csiro.au/research/conferences/ATCA25th/
