Guidelines for colloquium speakers
Here are some guidelines to consider when preparing your talk.
- Keep in mind that font sizes smaller than 24 pt are difficult to
read from the back of the lecture theatre.
- Colour schemes with sufficient contrast can improve the
readability of text and graphs enormously.
- Make sure that the labels and tick marks on important graphs are
large enough to read, even from a distance, and that graphs are not
too crowded.
- Do not to assume that everyone is an expert in your field, and
some of us may need a basic introduction into your research and its
physics. This is even more true as a fraction of the audience may be
students who appreciate a good introduction.
When presenting your talk, please speak clearly, with as little
accent as possible, and not too fast. The audience comes from a
variety of countries, and some may have problems understanding strong
accents or dialects.
