6th ATNF Synthesis Imaging Workshop
Monday 12 May 2003 to Friday 16 May 2003
09:00 to 17:00

ATNF Narrabri

The ATNF will hold a workshop on the basics of radio interferometry at the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) near Narrabri NSW from May 12-16, 2003. The format will be similar to the 2001 Synthesis Workshop but with additional emphasis on millimetre interferometry. In addition to lectures and tutorials by radio astronomers and engineers, a number of "practical sessions" will introduce participants to the process of proposal writing and to ATCA observations and data reduction at both centimetre and millimetre wavelengths.

The intended audience is postgraduate students or other interested researchers. The lectures will be aimed at a level appropriate for students beginning postgraduate studies. No prior experience with radio astronomy is required, although some experience with astronomical data reduction or analysis will be useful.

The registration fee is $200 ($150 for students) and covers all lunches as well as two workshop dinners. Dinner will also be provided for participants that are observing at night. Note that an extra $50 will be charged for registration after APRIL 5. Accommodation will be in Narrabri motels as well as economical "cabins" in a Narrabri caravan park. Rates are available on the workshop home page. Enrolled students may apply for financial assistance for travel and accommodation when filling out the online registration form.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to register on-line at as soon as possible. Attendance may need to be limited because of our lecture room, and priority will be given to those who have not attended previous workshops and who register before the early deadline of APRIL 5.
