Last weekend 11 ASKAP antennas (each fitted with a MkII generation PAF) were tuned to 1.4 GHz allowing observations of the HI 21-cm spectral line in a nearby starburst galaxy, NGC 253. The 7-hour, single beam, 1512 channel data set was preliminarily reduced using CASA (Common Astronomy Software Applications software package). The images shown were produced through the efforts of ACES (ASKAP Commissioning & Early Science) team members.
