CSIRO Space and Astronomy was well represented at the Macquarie University Astronomy Open Night last weekend. This year’s event was the biggest yet with 3000 people coming to stargaze, listen to talks, visit exhibitors and take part in a range of activities. The CSIRO booth was busy from the outset with an initial rush of people dropping by our booth ahead of the first talk, with then a steady stream of visitors for the rest of the night. Questions ranged from wanting to know about black holes, how big and how old space is, careers, and working at CSIRO. Our co-supervised Macquarie University students were also busy on the night, giving talks and helping out across the event. Clear skies this year meant the stargazing was well attended, spreading the crowds out. The Macquarie University Astronomy Open Night is the largest annual public astronomy event in Sydney.
