It’s wildflower season in Western Australia! The season starts in July and lasts through to October. There are more than 12,000 species of wildflowers in Western Australia and Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory sits in the heart of WA’s Mid West wildflower region on Wajarri Yamaji Country. This year’s wildflower season is the best in recent memory with early winter rains resulting in a spectacular display. CSIRO’s observatory land management team work closely with WA biodiversity experts to monitor and document the species present at the observatory, by taking samples, monitor populations, and gathering information to support biodiversity work.
