Exploration of the stellar population in the Galactic Center through maser sources

Preliminary survey result of SiO v=1 J=2->1 maser sources in the ACES archive (Tsuboi et al. 2027, IAUS405 proceedings)

Abstract

Astrophysical maser sources are associated with sites of a star’s birth and death and observed in the whole Milky Way Galaxy. The observed properties of the masers, including their internal spatio-kinematics, are diagnosed for tracing the early evolution of newly born stars and the final evolution of dying, pulsating stars, both of which exhibit copious stellar mass loss outflows. However, in my colloquium talk, I will focus the main scientific interest in the history of Galactic structure formation and star formation activities in the Galactic Center probed by the samples of maser sources. The latest large area surveys such as ACES (ALMA Central Molecular Zone Exploration Survey) and GASKAP-OH (Galactic ASKAP Spectral Line Survey for Hydroxyl) will yield large samples of maser sources (SiO and OH, respectively) toward that region, especially the Nuclear Stellar Disk or Bulge. They will enable us to perform the statistical analysis of the spatio-kinematical distributions of those masers categorized into some groups with different stellar ages and kinematical properties. The colloquium talk will present the preliminary result of the SiO maser source search in the ACES area and the possible perspectives of the GASKAP-OH survey and the future astrometry in SKA-VLBI.
