DESCRIPTION:How to model the Universe in N easy steps\n\nAbstract\n\nMuch progress has been made in recent years in our understanding of the co-evolution of galaxies and supermassive black holes\, and their connection to the underlying large-scale dark matter structure. In this talk I will discuss simulation and modelling techniques that bridge theories of galaxy and black hole formation with the properties of observed galaxy populations.
