Instructions

The document Standard RFI Management Requirements for Activities on Boolardy Station lists requirements that must be met for activities on Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory (previously Boolardy and Kalli stations) (other than astronomy-related activities or mining activities, which are covered by other processes).

Information about proposed activities should be provided three weeks in advance using the REMP form below.

The REMP form below should be completed and submitted by the person who will take responsibility of the proposed activity. A CSIRO contact who will take responsibility for the coordination of the activity is required. Information in the REMP will enable a technical and scientific impact assessment of the activity to be done.

Proponents must note that it may take up to 3 weeks for an assessment to be made and hence should apply in sufficient time. A CSIRO staff member will communicate the result of the assessment to the nominated responsible person. Due to the stringent radio quiet protection requirements, additional conditions or restrictions may be placed on activities and in extreme cases the activity may not be approved to proceed.

A REMP is not required for genuine emergency situations involving safety of life or significant loss of property.

A positive integer indicating the version for this application. New applications should use "1". Revised applications of previous submissions should use the same title and increase the version number as appropriate.
Name and details of primary contact responsible for proposed activity
Name of CSIRO staff member responsible for coordination (if not the Primary contact)
This should either be an obvious, well-known landmark (such as the Precursors Control Building, Antenna 10, or Boolardy Airstrip), GPS coordinates, or a map showing the exact location in relation to the ASKAP and MWA areas or Boolardy Homestead. "The Turkey Nest" or "Jagged tree" for example would not be appropriate landmarks to reference. If required attach a map using the attachment field at the bottom of this form.
Period of proposed activity
Daily 'Weekday' timeframe (if required attach a schedule (see last row) or use the work description field below)
Daily 'Weekend' timeframe (if required attach a schedule (see last row) or use the work description field below)
Answer Yes or No to the following questions - if Yes, please specify in the activity description field below
Will any electrical equipment be permanently installed?*
Does this activity require access to the areas surrounding ASKAP and the MWA?*
Refer to map above - see 'Process'.
Will aircraft be used to fly in to, out of, or over the observatory site?*
Will welding equipment be used?*
Provide details of specific days/times.
Will radio-emitting or receiving equipment be used?*
e.g. CB/two-way radios, sat phones, remote control units, wireless devices, WiFi or Bluetooth etc. for activities other than emergency use.
Please provide a brief description of the proposed activity to allow an assessment of the radio-frequency interference impact. It is not necessary to explain why the activity is required or to provide other non-technical information. Include details in relation to questions answered 'Yes' above. Specify all: electrical, electronic, battery operated or communication equipment/devices; vehicle types; aircraft and drones. For advice on what to include please contact mro.emc@csiro.au.
