The CSIRO ICT Centre is offering a number of summer vacation
student scholarships, details at:
http://www.ict.csiro.au/careers
In Canberra we have the following project:
A million stars a second.
The aims of this project are to generate an algorithm that
can deal with a data set of 1 billion astronomical bodies
in under half-an-hour on a 20-node Beowulf cluster, and to
understand the performance of the algorithm. The proof of
achievement will be a Technical Report (likely to be the
core of a full paper) that documents the algorithm's
performance. The other deliverable will be the code
implementing the algorithm.
Please pass this on to students who might be interested.
Thanks,
Rob
