2012 CASS Undergraduate Vacation Scholarships Applications Now Open

The 2012 CSIRO Astronomy & Space Science (CASS) Undergraduate Vacation Scholarship Program is a fantastic opportunity to undertake a research project at one of the world’s leading radioastronomy facilities. As part of this program scholarships are being offered in astrophysics, engineering, education/outreach and operations. Most students will be based at CASS headquarters in Marsfield with a small number of scholarships offered at our Observatory sites including Parkes and Narrabri.

Participation in the Vacation Scholarship Program has influenced previous scholarship holders in their choice of further study and future career options. Many have gone on to pursue a PhD in CSIRO or to build a successful research career within CSIRO, a university or industry

The program includes a fieldwork trip to one of our observatories, either Parkes, home of "the Dish" or Narrabri where the Australia Telescope Compact Array is situated.

The scholarships are open to students who have completed (by November) at least three years of undergraduate study and who have maintained a credit average or higher. Scholarships are to commence on the 26th of November 2012 and continue for a period of 12 weeks. Each student will undertake a research project under the supervision of a research scientist, engineer or outreach/education leader. Projects will be offered in astrophysics, engineering, outreach/education and operations. The outreach/education position will be based at Parkes Observatory.
