Jordan Collier Colloquium: MeerKAT: performance, processing, pipelines and perspiration.

The Australia Telescope National Facility Colloquium
15:00-16:00 Wed 28 Nov 2018

Marsfield lecture theatre

Abstract

A new kind of clock started when the South African president inaugurated MeerKAT during July 2018, and the public considered the telescope ready to go! Little do they know of the challenges facing those of us working to deliver MeerKAT and its science projects, problems whose solutions are applicable to the broader challenges of the SKA. I will talk about my assessment of the performance of MeerKAT via data quality metrics within their real-time SDP pipeline, building various tools and pipelines to process the data, and trying not to sweat it in the race against the clock!
