Spitzer SWIRE Legacy Survey - Dr Carol Lonsdale Colloquium

Abstract

Spitzer's Wide-area InfraRed Extragalactic (SWIRE) Legacy survey opens
new windows on the
formation of galaxies by tracing passively-evolving, dusty star forming
galaxies and AGN
across volumes large enough to map >100 Mpc-scales, and reaching back
past the decline in star
formation since z~1 to the peak epochs of star formation. I will
outline the SWIRE multi-wavelength
program and highlight some of the first results, including our searches
for high redshift ULIRGs.
