High-resolution 3-D Observations of Magnetic Fields in Star-forming Regions - Dr Busaba Hutawarakorn Kramer Colloquium

The Australia Telescope National Facility Colloquium

Abstract

Strong polarization is one of the distinguishing features of OH 18 cm
masers in star-forming regions. The polarization is produced by the Zeeman effect, and measurements allow the magnetic field strength and in some cases the field direction to be determined directly. OH masers are thus unique probes of the magnetic field in star-forming regions on
sub-arcsecond scales. In this talk, I will review the results from our
recent MERLIN observations and present preliminary results from LBA
observations.
