Pulsars in Globular Clusters - Ingrid Stairs Colloquium

The Australia Telescope National Facility Colloquium
15:30-16:30 Wed 22 Jul 2009

ATNF Marsfield Lecture Theatre

Abstract

Globular clusters are superb millisecond and binary pulsar factories, allowing for probes of physics ranging from neutron-star interiors to the gravitational potentials of the clusters. I will report on cluster searches using Arecibo and the Green Bank Telescope, pointing out some of the puzzles that have arisen in the data. I will also provide an update on the timing of the pulsar in M4, B1620-26, which has both a white-dwarf and a planetary companion.
